The Specs
The SmartTrace™ Controller is a complete control solution designed specifically for managing electric heat trace circuits. It provides both local and remote control functionality, with built-in intelligent alarm logic and real-time circuit-level data.
This controller is typically installed as the primary heat trace panel or alongside an existing distribution system where both monitoring and control are required. It’s ideal for new builds, retrofits, or replacing aging systems with a modern, field-proven platform. Available in a range of enclosure types, it’s built to perform reliably in industrial and commercial environments.
The SmartTrace Controller provides full heat trace control and monitoring within a single panel. It includes integrated breakers, contactors, current sensing, and intelligent alarm logic to manage each circuit reliably and efficiently.
Two typical installation configurations are supported:
Integrated Control: Heat trace circuits are fed directly from the SmartTrace panel, with all control and monitoring components built into the enclosure.
Panel Replacement or Upgrade: The SmartTrace Controller can be used to replace existing outdated control panels, offering a modernized solution with real-time feedback and enhanced visibility.
Optional HMIs provide local interaction, while remote capabilities are available when connected to SmartTrace Software.
The SmartTrace Controller supports multiple communication options to suit your facility’s needs:
Wired – Ethernet (RJ45): Standard Modbus TCP/IP connection for integration with SmartTrace Software or your facility’s SCADA/DCS system.
Optional – 2-Wire RS-485: Modbus RTU for facilities using legacy or serial-based communication networks.
Optional – Cellular: Enables remote connectivity in locations without local network access, ideal for remote or unmanned sites.
- Optional – Wireless: For facilities with secure wireless infrastructure, allowing flexible placement and simplified networking without physical cabling. Can be paired with SmartTrace Wireless Communication Modules to enable seamless integration across distributed or hard-to-wire areas.
These options allow the SmartTrace Controller to operate as a standalone solution or as part of a fully connected system for centralized monitoring and control.
